My name is Deb Schaffer and I am the owner and lead designer for The Feathered Nest.  I have two wonderful women who work with me, as well as a couple of sweet interns during the summer!

I have been designing in Loudoun County since 1991, but have clients throughout the country.

My work has been featured in several magazines, most recently on the cover of the January-February 2009 issue of Veranda Magazine.  Other publications include Decorating Magazine and HGTV’s “Homes Across America.”

When Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Virginia, received a donation to replace the draperies in Mrs. Eustis’s bedroom, I was honored to be chosen to replicate the originals.  I am currently working on replicating the draperies in the Entry Hall and Breakfast Room

I was the Design Chair for the 2006 Loudoun Arts Council Designer Showhouse and also designed the Parlor in this historic home.  The largest room in the mansion, I worked with the existing gilded cornice boards and oversize Victorian mirrors to create a room where people would retire following dinner for “dessert and conversation.”

I also fabricated the window treatments and bedding for a room in the 1998 NSO Designer Showhouse.

I am a wife, the mother of a teenage boy, and the obsession of two black labs.  I am also a breast cancer survivor.
